Chaparral-Artists

This page contains information on Chaparral Artists; a diverse collection of gifted and creative artists that have been active in the Morongo Basin for over twenty years. The group promotes art in the area with demonstrations, workshops, art shows and other activities.

On this page you can read copies of Chaparral Artists newsletter “The Chaparral Sketch”; you can print entry forms for upcoming shows, and see pictures and other items relating to the club.

From September through June we have meetings on the second Monday of each month at 1:00 p.m. in the Community Center at 6171 Sunburst in Joshua Tree. Instead of our regular meeting we occasionally have paint outs or we meet with The Morongo Valley Art Colony in Morongo Valley. So please check the Event Calendar in our most recent newsletter for our current schedule.

Each month we have a new art display at the following location.

A Roadside Attraction Gallery

Currently we have four judged Art Shows per year at A Roadside Attraction Gallery. One of these is a youth show. The other months of the year members of Chaparral Artists have their work on display.

On January 22, 2011 Chaparral Artists hosted their first monthly field trip. It was a huge success with more than 45 people of all ages hiking to view the petroglyphs near Joshua Tree. If you are interested in joining us on one of our trips we would love to have you. We try to plan trips that aren’t too strenuous and allow each person to spend as much or as little time as they want.

Everyone is welcome to attend our meetings, join us on our trips, and enter Chaparral Artist art shows. (Membership is not required.)
